Plastic flowers in a vase
Lectric candles flickering dim
Faded poem torn and wind blown
A shrine for memories of him
Desolate and all alone
This spot marks the end of a life
A car drives by and not a glance at all
Oh the pain of a heartbroken wife
This is all that’s left
A place for her to remember
All the times they had so long ago
It all came crashing down in the blink of an eye
A Roadside Shrine is all we’ll ever know
The cross she made is weathered now
The nails bleed rust into the white
A tiny flag flaps in the wind
The notes she leaves are blown into the night
She leaves a ribbon of green at Christmas
A heart for him on Valentines Day
A faded picture of them both young and in love
Taken before he went away
This is all that’s left
A place for her to remember
All the times they had so long ago
It all came crashing down in the blink of an eye
A Roadside Shrine is all we’ll ever know
